I just bought myself a Nokia Mediamaster 9860S receiver (not by any standards the newest on the market, admittedly), and I've discovered some very intriguing features it has.
I've been searching high and low for quite some time for a DVB-S receiver which can be controlled using a serial cable for some time, and I've finally found one! MMEdit, in addition to being able to programme the receiver from a PC with channel info (downloadable off the internet, as I found) and favourites lists, can also control the receiver using an ordinary null modem serial cable. Apparently, it works with the Nokia Mediamaster 9860S, 9802S, 9800 and 9902S receivers. So I've finally found my holy grail, and I can now change channels on my satellite receiver using a serial cable. One problem, though. The channel changing abilities seem confined to an app which comes with the program, and I can't find any DLL files or similar things BTV can use. Is anyone else successfully using BTV to change channels on their Mediamasters? Is there anyone who thinks he may be able to figure out how to help me do this? ...there. A personal request and a public service announcment rolled into one. Don't see that very often now, do you?
