Unhappy MediaMVP. More Noobie than King Noob!

Hi. If i tell you guys everything, you can cut away all the crap and maybe help me out.
I bought a MediaMVP from Ebay.
My system is Athlon XP2600, 512MB DDR333, 80GB SATA. I am on a 1MB/256kb broadband line. I am using a router to connect my PC, and a long length of network cable to connect through a wall, into my lounge to the TV.
I am getting what seems like a lot of crashes on the MVP unit. The rectangular bars stop at two left, none of the buttons on the remote respond. I have to pull out power cable.
Some times it works perfect. Other times it cuts out from movie and goes to crash state.
I first tested it out on portable TV next to my PC using network cable provided.
I have installed latest software from Hauppage site.
If i was using software such as Azureus to download movies etc(torrent) would this have any effect on performance? Bandwidth or CPU?
I really am so new its frightening, but the idea of this looks good, so perhaps i need a few tips.
Many thanks

Darren

Have you considered asking the ebay seller if they had similar problems. There might be a reason why they were selling it on ebay.

I never had any crashes with my unit.

The Ebay seller said it was new and unopened. He also sent me here.
Are you running a similair outfit to mine?
When i say i am using Azureus, basically i'm slaughtering my bandwidth all day long.

cheers

Search the forums at http://www.shspvr.com. There were issues with certain versions with heat. You couldn't lay them flat and had to use the stand to keep it vertical to get better air circulation. take a look.

LOLOLOL. I do have my unit flat on top of TV, so that could be something to look into.

I'd like to see my missus give away my TV. It would snap her spine.
Still.........

I'd go out and buy my dream TV instead.... The untouched credit line could come in handy!

You can always try the lastest and greatest version of the MVP software.
