D5 player (Gateway) and FF through commercials....

Hi all,

I recieved a Gateway wireless connected DVD player that I ordered last week, and have been playing with it for the past couple of days. Its very cool, nice being able to have access to my videos, music and pictures from my desktop. And after changing the max bitrates, I'm now able to push across BTV mpeg-2 recordings. My issue now is that when fast forwarding through video, including BTV ones, the screen doesn't show what you're fast forwarding through, making it impossible to see when commercials end and the show begins. Any of your D5 player owners (such as the Go Video or Gateway), have a good way of fast forwarding through commercials?

Bump.

Been having fun playing with the unit, and it will show my xvids, divx, mpeg-2 and just about everything else I throw out it (some obscure avi's seem to choke, but its rare). But not seeing the screen FF while fast forwarding is a bother. Anyone?

Oh, and it works great wirelessly, using the 802.11g card with a netgear G router.

Unfrotunately there is no other way currently. I have d2730 as well. The way I do it is watch the time meter as it advances in FF or REW and guess at the commercial length,

Check out www.media-servers.com for info specific to this player.

Dartmouth,

How did you change the max bitrate on the player?
