Re: Pvr-150?

Could it be a typo?

I have never heard of that, but there is a M-150 hardware encoder similar to the pvr-250 from some other manufacturer.

Maybe that's what they mention?

Re: Pvr-150?

Not a typo -- we are well aware of it here at SnapStream. It's going to have some very cool features and a very cool price as well.

Here's the only public information that I've seen about the card:

Even more interesting from the spanish powerpoint presentation mentionned on that site is the PVR-500 with dual tuner. Great for those with analog cable.

not just analog cable... those who have a cable box too!

cable box output to 1/2 of the pvr500, and feed the other 1/2 a straight feed of your analog cable split before the cable box! or get 2 cable boxes.... or a cable box and a sat dish......or....

Actually, I don't believe that will work. I'm pretty sure I read that the 500 will only have 1 coax input. The cable is actually split to the 2 tuners inside the card. Which really sucks, because the card then becomes pointless for anyone not using analog cable.

Re: Pvr-150?

actually SHS i belive already pointed that out, yes it only has one cable input and it splits internally but it has an svideo input so you can use 2 cable / sat boxes (or combo analog+digital) using one in the coax and the other using svideo, you can also buy a breakout box / drive adapter bay that has a second svideo / composite input on it.

Re: Pvr-150?

I also think that there will also be an internal header giving you access to the second tuner/encoder through an S-Video or Composite connection.

In the same powerpoint presentation, there is image of the PVR500 and it looks like the card has two coax input as well as one s-video and one set of rca jacks.

Re: Pvr-150?

From the Top of the card
FM Tuner input
TV Analog Tuner input
S/Video input
Composite input
Left Audio input
Rigth Audio input
Also on top of the card you see 2 Independent A/V I/O connector header for Front A/V inputs panel for each Encoder.

As I said before on SHSPVR forum the board design they should have remove S-Video, Composite, Left Audio, Right Audio and replace it with (2) round 7/9 pin round socket adaptor which hauppauge called A/V Output connector found on WinTV-PVR 350 by reverse it as an input and add them to PVR 500 board that would have give us 2 Independent A/V input on PCI back panel board it self and room for IR plug without take up 2nd PCI slot or doing case mods.
Or they could have done like ATI AIW and min other manufacturer have done in past and that is make there own breakout dongle box for rear of the PC for much cleaner look for thoses of US building HTPC Box that don't like A/V cable route in front of the PC.
Don't get me wrong that Prototype Front A/V Panel in the front would come in handel for Cam/VCR when needed from time to time just USB, Firewire etc etc but I perf to hide it behide a close door.

Some way to setup below
"TV AIR Broadcast Antenna"
I just use 2way F-Type splitter with a very short custom made cable tie both FM and TV Analog in to one input.

"Analog Cable"
You should use the Independent FM tuner and FM Flexible Reflect Antenna which come with that card or Rabbit Ears or by going outside to Root top Antenna for even better improved reception.

"Digital cable + Satellite"
SVideo (1) + SVideo (3)
You should use the Independent FM tuner and FM Flexible Reflect Antenna which come with that card or Rabbit Ears or by going outside to Root top Antenna for even improved better reception.

"Analog + Digital Cable or Satellite"
TV Tuner + SVideo (1)
I just use 2way F-Type splitter with a very short custom made cable tie both FM and TV Analog in to one input.

SVideo (1) is SVideo is on the PCI back panal which for Encoder chip 1.
SVideo (2) is A/V I/O connector header for Front A/V inputs panel which for Encoder chip 1.
SVideo (3) is A/V I/O connector header for Front A/V inputs panel which for Encoder chip 2.

Now for using only the Analog TV RF output tuner from the Cable or Satellite box there is an eazy way to setup each recevier by switch them to there own channel like one recevier on channel 3 and other recevier on channel 4.

But another option would be the Prototype Front A/V Panel

In any case I can see some user hard at work dreaming up cool way mount this 3 1/2 bay Prototype Front A/V Panel in area of the case which should be interesting to see.

Re: Pvr-150?

See to me the PVR500 would be a "perfect" tuner solution...

My thinking is a user could use the main tuner for recording tv (from whatever source) and then use the second tuner (with the front panel) as an input only source. Meaning it would not be used for viewing television, but instead somehow in BTV I could "input" select (maybe a button on Firefly) and it would swap me over to the 2nd feed so that I could use it for manual recordings from camcorders and such.

Re: Pvr-150?

I like the A/V connection box. THought I prefer to have my connections in the back of my machine.

Presumably it means I can then access each tuner/encoder separately using these.

Re: Pvr-150?

given the size of that pcb in the av prototype I bet it could easily be adapted to take up a pci blanking slot with a bracket attached.
