Plextor just announced a capture device that will allow users to record in Divx, mpeg-1, mpeg-2, and mpeg-4.
Looks like Sage will be will be supporting this device in a few weeks. It'd be interesting to see if Snapstream is planning on supporting this too. Plextor press release HTPCnews thread Plextor product page

Re: Plextor MPEG-4 and Divx Hardware PVR Encoder
The only thing this is missing is a blaster port. I can't believe everyones ignoring the blasters. It seems like we should be able to buy something to control our
STBs for like 10 bucks. If this plextor had that, it would be the ultimate pvr unit.

Snapstream have been on the ball as far as dev options and have make solid choices for the current BTV iteration.... I'm sure they've thought about the upcoming months and years for the future iterations. Eric
