Thanks SS (Tongue in cheek)

I "thought" I was going to make my life easier by taking advantage of today's "time-shifting" TV viewing. So here I am with a dual tuner Snapstream-based PVR and a ReplayTV. Bottom line is that I now miss NOTHING. (well pretty much so) Football season is upon us and I look forward to recording at least three of the games at the same time.

I now don't have to choose which of my favorite Sci-Fi shows to record or not record. In the past I counted on Summer re-runs of shows I had to skip. Not so any more.

So you'd think life is good eh? Well, doggone it SnapStream (and others) .. HOW do I find the time to WATCH all the stuff I'm recording? Seriously .. you guys with 3 or 4 tuner units and multiple PVRs must be "professional TV watchers" or something. Egad, I say .. I want my life back !!

Elimination of 17 minutes (commercials) out of every hour of commercial TV helps a little. But not enough. With all the wonderful "stuff" I can now record .. I find myself sleeping less, and getting fatter.

The next big "thing" is going to be time "compression". Maybe a "neural implant" where I can directly feed video and audio to my brain at 2x. Maybe a "D I I" or Dual Input Inplant" where I can feed both sides of my brain at the same time with two different programs. All the action / sports stuff to one side and the dramas to the other.

Oh .. wait .. I can't walk and chew gum at the same time. Who am I kidding?

Well THANKS Snapstream .. for complicating my already over-taxed viewing and causing me to spend more time watching TV and more time snacking. <grin>

Actually snapstream has solved this problem for you with their remote admin. Set your shows to automatically recompress to something quite small, and stream them to yourself at work, or copy them to a USB Pen drive or Palm pilot and watch them on the go.

Re: Thanks SS (Tongue in cheek)

We need time compression - BTV shoudl be able to play a show bacjk @ 110% normal speed, so I can save 3.5 minutes per show!

Re: Thanks SS (Tongue in cheek)

There are apparently programs out there that can already "compress time." I think i remember seeing that feature in intervideo windvd. You can set a video file to play at a speed so it's over in X minutes. I'm personally waiting for the day I can stream video to a pair of (affordable) glasses anywhere in the world and project the video into say half of my field of view. Then I can go running and exercising while watching my favorite tv shows.

Heh. This is exactly why I'm getting myself one of those PVPs - too many shows, dammit!
