How to use the PVR250 mpeg encoder?
So I want to encode an AVI file to mpeg2 format (go from divx to DVD mpeg2), and I thought since I have a PVR250 which has an mpeg encoder built in, I could use it to speed up my conversion...
Is this possible? Has anyone done this? Could you recommend a software solution?

No,
well really just not easy to do, you would have to feed the video out of the computer then back into the inputs on the card. the encoder on a pvr250 only processes video through its inputs it does not have the ability to feed it video files. Your best bet on conversion is something like tmpgenc or something similar.

Yah, I know of tmpgenc. I use it all the time... I waws just hoping that I could make use of the hardware mpeg encoder, in order to speed up the mpeg 2 encodings from AVI files....
I guess the only way to speed things up then is to get a faster processor... Oh well...
