when you run the snapstream setup wizard at any point are you prompted to login/create an account at snapstream.net?
if no: then your local network, internet connection, or something (probably spyware/firewall) on your computer is interfearing with the client's ability to contact the servers.
if yes: then there is something up in the engine you should be able to do atleast manual updates
you should contact tech support in either case and get them to have a look at the logs they will request to see whats going wrong
when you are able to logon to the .net website, is it the trial or registered one, if you can only logon to the trial site and you have a registered product on your system then you need to run through the setup wizard again and make sure that it signs onto .net during the setup process for it to transfer your account over to the registered servers.
