IR bug covers

I am going to have 3 cable boxes running with the USB-UIRT on 3 Motorola boxes. From what I understand from Comcast is that the Motorola box cant have its IR codes changed. So I created a dual IR bug that supports zone 1 and 2. I would like to also use zone 3 (main blaster) but when that changes channels it changes it on all boxes. Will those little black tape IR bug stickers block out the transmission on the other boxes?

Re: IR bug covers

If they're the same cable boxes that I had, good luck. I had a terrible time separating them so they wouldn't see each other's IR signals. I ended up basically walling one off from another with board game boxes.

I think the problem comes from the venting holes on the top of the box. This lets the light leak though to the IR sensor.

Now that I have my Dish Network back and can set each receiver for a different remote signal, I'm really happy.
