Do you have a PC at work? I'll catch up on some shows every now and then just by downloading them from my home computer. Or I'll use a USB key.

Re: watching recorded shows at work????

I have the Toshiba e405 Pocket PC. Bought it at circuit city for $199 after a $100 rebate.

You can get it for $299 at Best Buy (don't see it online at Circuit City anymore, but you can probably find it instore there)

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....4&type=product

You should get one that has at least 300MHZ. If you get anything less the video will be very choppy. I used to have one that was slower and the video was unwatchable. 300MHZ seems to be the minimum to me.

I also have a 256MB SD memory card. Depending on the video quality I can fit up to 4 hours of video. I usually set my ShowSqueeze to compress Family Guy and Futurama everynight so I can put it on my pocket PC when I wake up. It always finishes before I leave for class.

If you have any other questions just ask

Re: watching recorded shows at work????

Yeah, I watch shows using my Palm Tungsten C. I just use showsqueeze to get the divx file then put it on my SD card. MMPlayer for the palm is needed to play divx files, but after that you're set.

I've watched recorded shows and even full length movies off of my TC. You can even get a Tungsten T3 and have no problems.

Re: watching recorded shows at work????

On the Tungsten C, you can listen to mp3's but only in mono. If you get the Tungsten T3 you will be able to listen to them in stereo. Your best bet for price is to get a T3 with a large SD card. With any of these pda's, it would be tough to fit a quality show on the pda alone, so you're going to need a SD card.

Go to the palm site and check out the T3.

Note that the version you would buy now cannot do DIVX.

Re: watching recorded shows at work????

The Pocket PC's are better. They support WMV 9, which as far as I know the Palms don't support. Showsqueeze (unless you bought it before March 25th or something) only supports WMV so I think thats your best bet.

Low quality WMVs are WAAAY better than low quality DIVXs anyway

Re: watching recorded shows at work????

I don't have a pocket PC but as a user of Divx and wmv I have to agree that wmvs at very low quality are much better than Divx on equivalent very low quality.
Divx is better at high quality I think.

Re: watching recorded shows at work????

I have always been a palm guy. My Treo 600 is absolutely amazing. However, this is the *only* thing I've come across that even seems like an advantage PPCs have over Palms. If only MS released WMP for palm! They have for Macs, so who knows?

Re: watching recorded shows at work????

I'm not sure I'd tell the world that I watch movies or tv at work, but I have been very happy with snapstream showsqueeze to pocket pc on a Dell Axim 5 running pocket pc 2003.
The Axim 5 is cheap, takes CF memory which is also relatively cheap, and can play full landscaped screen movies at near 30 frames/second. (I still fiddle with custom pocket pc settings to take advantage of the Axim. Just as important, the battery on the thing runs long enough to watch a whole movie, a very big consideration.
