Grrr, boxes at the top right of my recordings. This Elecard? How do I uninstall it?

The DVD decoders I have to choose from are Default, Intervideo NonCCS, and Nero DVD, and Elecard.

The only thing I can figure out is that it has to do with the Elecard thing not being registered? It's 9 small boxes in the top right corner and some are empty and some are filled (they change throughout the recording).

I have no idea what is installed to cause it to do that. I didn't install the Elecard decoder...and it's not listed in my add/remove programs. If it is this, how do I get rid of it? Changing to the other decoders does nothing. Can put it on any of the others and still get the boxes.

When I edit the file in something like Womble, it isn't there, but if I play it with Windows Media Player it is. I do my editing in Womble, save it, and it's there in the new file. wtf?

Any idears what's going on?

I can't seem to take a pic of it...

Yep, that's the elecard mpeg2 codec. It's not actually encoded that way...it's just superimposed during decoding. Look in your c:\Program Files directory and see if you have a directory named Moonlight, or something to that effect. If there is, there might be an uninstall executable in that directory that you can run. Otherwise, the codec itself might be in Program Files\Common Files\Moonlight, or Program Files\Common\Elecard, or something to that effect.

These are the files you need to delete if there is no uninstall program; they might be located in the common files, or in system32.

C:\WINDOWS\system32\mpeg2dmx.ax

C:\WINDOWS\system32\mpgdec.ax

and or pim2null.ax
mpeg2mux.ax
mlcom.ax
minidivx.ax
elecardfilelistsource.ax
efilewriter.ax

I use the K-Lite Codec pack, as it's elecard decoder is not crippled. As I'm sure you are aware, installing codec packs can open up a can of worms, so use discretion. Personally, it's not causing me any trouble.
