3.5 How's it coming

Just wanted to see if anybody could let us how BTV 3.5 is coming along. From all I've heard, I'm extremely excited to see it soon.

Does anybody know if they'll do a public beta before releasing?

Re: 3.5 How's it coming

I just bought BTV myself. A friend of mine at work highly recommended it over Sage. I am in need of multi-tuners. I have read some of the other posts and have posted myself about when 3.5 will be released. I have heard by the end of this month and I have also read in someone else's post that it will be another month. I guess it would be nice to see a definite answer instead of someone guessing. If a beta of 3.5 is not released in the near future, I guess Sage might be a decent alternative.

A stable, feature-complete beta will be out before the end of May. I would absolutely shocked otherwise.

Brett,

Do you have both your RCA receivers hooked up to a separate serial connection and are you using one remote to control everything? I have way too many questions. Thanks!

Yes for the RCAs to work you will need them hooked up to individual serial connections. Go ahead and ask away...

I assume BTV 3.5 just chooses one when it is ready to record. Do you use an IR Blaster or BTV to change the channels? Do you also use BTV to watch live TV?

I use a Serial Connection, and yes I watch liveTV occasionally. Works like a charm.

I will be using multiple PVR-250s. I "think" I remember way back someone mentioning that only one IR control would be needed. Is that true? I'm assuming it passes the needed IR commands to the proper tuner based on which one is recording etc.

Re: 3.5 How's it coming

They updated the tuner plugins for the closed beta going out tonight. I am not sure though whether or not that is possible, never used an IR blaster.

Guess we'll see. I recently got rid of my ATI rf remote which worked just fine. Problem was it was just another of about a dozen remotes needed to run everything. So I picked up a Harmony remote which is now controlling everything. Hey !!! There was coffee table under all those remotes after all !!

Anyway the ATI was RF, and this Harmony is IR. So I re-installed the original Hauppauge remote and set it as the BTV remote, which is intended to be controlled by the Harmony. It was then I started wondering how running two PVR-250s in BTV would work with one remote.

I really should get involved with the beta program as I'm very much into all the "odd" stuff. heh heh. But no time to do a proper job as a beta tester.

I guess we will see soon eh ??
