DIVX encoding
What is the possibility of ever being able to record right away into divx? MPEG2 is eating up so much space.

Today or tomorrow not that likely. But within a year or two there will be new MP4 hardware encoders on the market. Once these become mainstream it will stand a better chance of happening. Besides space is cheap I got 600gbs for about $300.
