DVD Author and DivX

I've read some posts where people are saying that more DVD players are supporting DivX. What I'm curious about is how you author those DVDs. Can you just copy and paste the AVI files to the DVD and pop them into a DVD player? Or do you need a special DVD Author program that recognizes DivX so that the menu and chapter junk can be setup?

I have a Daewoo DV6T811N DVD/VHS player. I don't have to do anything special to play my DivX encoded AVI's, I just add them all to a CD till I fill it up. I do switch between EasyCD creator and Nero so that I can stay familar with both.

But since the CD and DVD I make don't use any menu's setup program, what happens is that the first movie plays just fine, then the next one, then the next one, etc. They all play in order first to last.

But I'm only speaking for my player I don't know if the rest do the same as mine

divx player

I have a polaroid DVP-0600. It's $93 from Bestbuy and I love it. It plays every format of CD and DVD, mp3, WMA, etc etc AND all Divx versions. I think it's even firmware upgradable for future versions of Divx. DEFINITELY worht every penny. And to answer your question, I just burn a divx movie onto a CD and go right to the player. Nothing fancy or re-encoding.
