PVR 250 remote

Okay, I did a search and came up with a couple of things that I will try when I get home, but I wanted to see if anyone else has had/is having the exact same issue. I bought the PVR250 bundle kit from Snapstream, that came with the gray Hauppage remote. Is that supposed to work with BTV? I used the low-speed data cable from the satellite receiver into the only port it fits in on the pc, but none of the buttons do anything. Does anyone here even use that remote? All I want to use it for is to change the channels and volume and stuff.

On an unrelated note, is there any reason to upgrade if things are working fine? I have read about quite a few people having problems with the latest build, plus not having the divx functionality, so if things are good for me should I just stick with how it came off of the cd?

I have the 350 with the grey remote and it does work with BTV. Not sure about your set up but it works with the IR receiver that you plug to back the PVR. point it to the receiver and you can remote away ( change channels, volume control etc etc in BTV ).

If there is no compelling feature that you want in the new release, then don't upgrade. If you hit a bug that is fixed in the new release then go ahead an upgrade but note that sometimes in fixing a bug, another maybe introduced

If you're happy with your current setup and Divx, you might as well not upgrade.
The most important part of the latest build is introding Overlay mode, for users with older video cards.

Okay, well I don't think I have the IR receiver hooked up. I have like 8 boxes of stuff unpacked and what are (I hope) extra cables lying around. Can anyone tell me what the IR receiver looks like? Is it the cord with a 3.5mm jack on one end and what looks like a black circle with some weird thing in the middle of it? If so, where do I hook that up?

Once I get that set up and working, and test to make sure recorded videos work as they're supposed to, I should be up and running! I'll throw something together about the problems I've had going into this for anyone who might be considering making this all work with http://www.msicomputer.com/product/d...model=MEGA_651 . I know someone on here expressed interest in how things turned out.

yes. put it in the only slot on the pvr card in which it fits.

Thanks, I had looked around and found a picture on some other forum confirming it yesterday, got it working.

In other news, it seems I spent all of that money for nothing. *I* think it's really cool and would love to use BTV all of the time, but my girlfriend..she's a different story entirely. She's the kind of person that can turn on the tv and watch something, anything, 24/7. When in doubt, she flips it to MTV. Yes, she watches reality tv. Survivor, Joe Millionaire, you name it. So it's too much effort for her when she's perfectly happy watching whatever crap is playing.

Grrrr.
