BeyondTV keeps friggin' losing my TV Tuner card!!!

OK, this is getting damn annoying. Whenever I exit out of BeyondTV running on my taskbar in idle mode, if I try to launch it again it friggin' loses my TV tuner card (a PVR 250) and I have to conduct a complete uninstall and reinstall of Snapstream in order to get it to work again. I even reverted back to 3.4.3 and seem to be experiencing this problem.

Now, the strange thing is, when 3.4.4 crapped out on me the last time even a complete uninstall and reinstall wouldn't fix it, so I reverted back to 3.4.3 to find that it was *STILL* not detecting my TV tuner card, even though WinXP claims that it is working fine in Device Manager. So, I reinstalled my drivers for it and then 3.4.3 started working again.

Has anybody experienced a similar anomaly? I'm working with tech support right now (thanks Robert!) however I'm assuming everyone is off for the holiday. Any takers?

Cheers,

EnochLight

PS - here's the screens I get when trying to run the wizard. BTW, I've already tried deleting the "tsbuffer" file (and all of the other .dat's for that matter) to no avail.

Everything can happen. Windows has a mind I think . It has just happend last week to me . I would reboot the computer and have AMCAP have no tv tuner . Another reboot or power off and it would . Something was a littly flaky . I tryed removeing the drivers in device manager , runing HWCLEAR util that is part of Hauppauge drivers . Then reboot and have XP search for drivers in /program files/hauppauge/whql . This is with the latest whql drivers.

I only have a wintv 401 card but it should work with the pvr250 .

Well just as an idea, I have had weird problems with hardware “disappearing” that was cause by a power supply going bad (or not strong enough).

Thanks for the comments, guys.

BenH

Windows indeed does have a mind of its own; one of the things that bothers me about it. ;-) Anyway, the latest drivers that I have for the PVR250 are actually *not* WHQL'd, as my screenie below shows. I wonder if I have the correct ones? I think I'll hit Hauppauge's website and see what's up.

I think my power supply should be OK; it's barely a year old and it's an Antec TrueBlue 480 Watt. Although it's not out of the question that it could be going bad, everything else seems to work rock solid so I'm going to eliminate that as a possibility for now. Thanks for the suggestion, though.

Cheers,

EnochLight
