Recompressing MPEG2 Files

can you still Recompressing MPEG2 Files I found it in the help file but cant find it in the web admin

here's what the help file says

Use the instructions below to recompress MPEG2 files (.mpg).

1. Launch the Web Admin Interface and select the Watch link on the left of your screen.

2. Using your mouse, right-click on the show you like to recompress and select "Recompress" from list of options.

3. Modify the following settings

· Target - Specifies the location on the file system where the recompressed file will be saved.

· Quality - Specifies the resulting quality of the recompressed file.

· Schedule the Recompress to - Specify whether to start the recompression process immediately or later.

Note: Recompressing is CPU intensive. If you select the option "Start Later," Beyond TV will recompress any shows you've selected at "off" times when your machine is not occupied with other tasks. You can check the time range for the recompressing window by selecting the Video Recompression link on the left of your screen. At the top of the screen you will see a time range next to "Time Constraints:"

4. Click the "Submit Button."

If you regularly recompress most or all of your recordings, you can enable Automatic Recompression to occur during the time range specified on the Video Recompression screen. To enable Automatic Recompression, select the Configure link and scroll down the Configure page until you reach the Automatic Recompression section. Select the radio button marked "Yes" and click the "Save your changes" button at the bottom of the page.

thanks,
pete

DivX recompression was removed :(

DivX support was removed in 3.4.4

You can install 3.4.3 and regain that functionality, but lose Overlay support in the process.

There will be a DivX plugin available when the developers finish it.

MPG2 to MPG2 recompress???????

I may be wrong, but there hasn't ever been an option to recompress mpegs to a lower bitrate mpeg file (that I know of).

You can do that with 3rd party tools like Tmpgenc.

There has never been an mpg->mpg recompress/showsqueeze option in the entire 3.x development cycle. If you want to recompress mpegs you have to use a 3rd party program like tmpgenc
