What's up with this email? Wasn't 3.4.4 released last month?

I don't get the email I just received today. It's as if 3.4.4 just came out April 6, but wasn't that released March 25?

I think I already have that installed - isn't the 3.4.4 the same as the 3.4.4 they have offered as a download since 3-25-04?

Cheers,

EnochLight

Yes, it's the same version... marketing (responsible for the newsletter you received) typically trails any release by anywhere from a couple of days to a week or two with its announcements.

Hey guys, SS is attempting to communicate things better now. It was suggested to them to send a global email out to all customers to let them know of the 3.4x release in case anyone wasn't aware (not everyone frequents the forums). SS is trying to go forward with a more focused customer communications channel (email one of them).

It's going to take an email or two to get back on track so let's cut them some slack. Afterall, it's in everyone's best interest.

Carlo

PS. This wasn't targeted at any person or post but I just thought I'd post it in case anyone was wondering.

No worries, m8 - just wanted to make sure I wasn't confusing my version numbers.

Cheers,

Question

Ya, I got the same exact email a couple weeks ago, the picture quality has improved but I didn't really need to know about it twice

I've been complaining about this for a while now, and I'm glad they did it. I'm also glad they included the "DIVX DOESN'T WORK" disclaimer because I would've been uber-pissed had my shows stopped squeezing.

Hear, Hear! Thank you for sending the announcement with the visible DIVX disclaimer

I can't say I understand what the rationale was for releasing 3.4.4 (nor do I need to)... But as far as I'm concerned it can not be said loud enough or often enough that rock-solid DIVX/MPEG-4 compression is absolutely critical, and uber-pissed is a much milder reaction than I'd have had if I'd installed 3.4.4 only to discover...

It's there is 3.4.3, but isn't solid (snap stream batch processor crashes every couple days, and squeezed files are often corrupt). I'm holding out hope for 3.5, but...

For one user's opinion -- there is no possible feature that could be included in 3.5 that is more important than good DIVX/MPEG-4 compression!
