stream fm radio

Hello, this is slighty off subject....

i just got a wintv-250 MCE with the built in FM tuner.

is it possible to have that play on that machine, and stream it to another machine...

basicially that pc is at home, i want to be able to pcanywhere into it and turn on the fm tuner (thats easy) then i want to connect to the stream to listen to the station. (at work i have no radio and want to listen to the bob and tom show)

any ideas? thanks again

Isn't that tech for the sake of tech?
There must be a solution of some sort.

Go to Goodwills and get a radio for $2 to leave at your office??

haha, i would love to i really would. but its not that easy. theres already a radio down here (7 people in the office) but the old man plays some really old and crappy (to me) music. i can listen to streaming radio on my computer and keep it quiet enough so only i can hear it.

i dont want to get in a radio war with senior, he might hit me with his newspaper.

Well, how about streaming directly from the bob and tom show then?
They seem to supply an internet stream.

Hmm, I wonder if there are any shoutcast plugins/addons/whatever that would let you stream fm from your tuner using their software?

Oh yeah, hadn't realized. You can get it free over the air but have to pay over the internet?!

Maybe someone will know something about streaming radio because I don't.

Another solution:
Use this program for recording radio:
http://www.replay-radio.com/

Then download the mp3 file and play it.

I am planning to put back my WinTV card in for the radio and was planning on such a solution to record some radio shows, transfer mp3 to a usb drive and listen at work. (I wear headphones all day long, no big deal around here).

yea, recording it and download is a good idea. i might have to resort to that. i would rather stream it, just because i dont need to listen to the whole thing, it just nice to listen when its on in the morning whenever i am sitting at my desk.

not a big deal but does anyone else know anything about streaming live? maybe windows media streamer. i think quicktime broadcaster would do it, but thats obviously on a mac.

I can't remember what it was, but a friend of mine once set up a live stream of his mp3's, and said he had the option of switching it to encode a line input, so I'd assume it could encode the FM tuner as well. I think it was a Windows Media Player thing, a plug-in, or an add-on, or something like that.

Just talking out of my butt here, but maybe you could use that replay-radio to record the mp3s into the same place BTV stores your videos, and then the web interface might let you stream them using media player or something? I haven't gotten mine set up yet so I don't know if BTV has any kind of support for mp3s or not (But I'm guessing Beyond Media does/will?)

well i figured it out.

download Windows Media Encoder (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/win...ad/default.asp)

from there you can broadcast a live stream, from any input. so i just set it to the input from the wintv-250mce card and set the bit rate and clicked encode and it worked. theres a couple of settings you have to play with but it works really well. have no problem connecting two computers with a 64k stream over a cable modem connection.

running about 70% cpu usage with a 800Mhz processor (512MB RAM)

yea, thats what the media encoder app says...

which is fine for me, since the computer has nothing else to do right now

im sure i could lower the bit rate to reduce the load some.
