Resolution setting has no effect in 'quality' settings
The initial res. that was keyed into 'default quality setting' was 720x480. I am viewing live tv on a computer monitor that has a native res. of 1280x1024. When I change the resolution to the native res. of my monitor in my 'default quality setting' area, I don't see any difference. What is this setting for, and correct me if I am wrong-shouldn't it change the resolurion of the BeyondTV image on my monitor? Is this setting just for recordings?
thanks. paul. |

Re: Resolution setting has no effect in 'quality' settings
Actually, Archie is right on this. You can't improve the resolution of broadcast or cable TV because it's still poorer res than your monitor's default 1280x1024. Your viewing on a hi-definition monitor, after all.
You could record in 1600x1200 if the software and your machine would do it, and aside from taking up your hard drive space the image would look the same as run-of-the-mill DVD standard quality. The trick is getting a higher definition image supplied to your tv tuner, and unless you have a hi-def tuner in your computer, this is not yet possible. I read that ATI is releasing an affordable hi-def tv tuner this spring; wonder if BTV will be compatible with it..? Cheers, EnochLight |
