Well I have a TV and a monitor connected to my computer. The TV is only there so I don't have to run downstairs to check the ouput of the modulator. It has no other real use. (I can view TV direct when I'm doing something else on the computer, but I hate real Live TV).
So in view of Archie's setup I am more of a "no" to the original question, hence my first reply: All other Tvs are fed by the modulator. All Tvs view BTv on a set channel. No biggie since it's only the 2 of us. To view TV on the can, but most importantly outside and on my dock I stream over wireless network to my notebook and listen on wireless headphones. I often can be heard giggling listening to stand-up comedy at the end of my dock at night... I'm sure the neighbors talk. 6 Tvs not enough as I often end up moving a TV to another wall port. I don't like being "tied down" just because I am watching Tv, and I like the flexibility of walking around, pausing, etc that our setup gives me. My setup upstairs is ugly as hell with 5 coax sticking out of the wall (some for the security cameras), a cheapo computer case that I never close and a spaghetti fest of cables. Not important to me, since it's "my" room and chaos is not a theory but a way of life here. Enthropy rules. Eric

I'm pretty familiar with the crossbarmedia stuff and the idea of using the existing cable inside the home for media distribution. I think there was one company (maybe still is -- I've never seen a product from them) that builds media servers that strictly use the existing cable infrastructure in the home for distribution. Ah, ucentric, that was the company...
Anyhow, it's my belief that it's mostly the custom installer market and enthusiasts that will use coax inside the home for media distribution. For the average consumer who wants to "retrofit" their existing home, digital wireless distribution is the way it's going to happen (ie PCs and connected media players strung together using wireless). Moving back to the topic of dsitributing media using cable inside the home: is there anything in Beyond TV that could be improved for cable distribution? |

Re: Do you have a PC connected to your TV?
I think the poll choice "I don't have a PC" is kind of moot. BTV3 is only for PC's; typically you will only find BTV PC users here in this forum. Or wait...was that tongue and cheek? If so, I totally had a blonde streak and missed the joke! D'oh!
I technically *DO* have a TV connected to my computer, via my MediaMVP. Does that count? Cheers, EnochLight |
