Kworld TV Tuner

Has anyone used a Kworld brand TV tuner. I am looking into this one:

http://www.kworld.com.tw/products/pr.../vs-ltv883.htm

It states MPEG 1/2/4 compression and it is only $55 from TigerDirect.com. I don't have the money to spend on a Hauppauge WinTV PVR-250 so I am looking at other options. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

This card does not have hardware encoding. That's not absolutely necessary but the card is also not on BTVs supported list of tuners....

You would be better off buying a ATI TV Wonder VE for US$49 direct from ATI. At least its supported.

I really would like to get a card with hardware compression, and I have checked the drivers at the Kworld site and they use BTWINCAP, which Snapstream is compatible with. I believe the card will work, just not sure of the quality.

If I do decide to go software compression, will there be a big difference in video quality or is it just a PC performance issue?

I think you would be better off buying a Hauppauge tuner myself, WINTV. Of coarse the optimum would be a PVR250. It seems to me that most people on here that have a hard time getting BTV going are using a ATI card. Maybe it's just me. Also I originally was using a ATI Radeon 7500 for TV out and the quality was awful. I am much happier with the Nvidia FX-5200. This is my opinion and your mileage may vary.
