Offline showsqueeze

Has anyone tried to perform showsqueeze using another machine that is not your main recording machine?

I have a dedicated box for the living room for capturing and displaying BTV. However, this box is only an Athlon 2100+, which is not very good at "smartchapting" and "showsqueezing".

I have an Athlon64 3400+ as my desktop. What I was thinking is running BTV on this box, and mount the video drive from my dedicated box. I would then batch showsqueeze and smartskip all the videos. I am guessing the Athlon64 box would do a better job.

One good thing I have noticed is that on my dedicated box, I can showsqueeze, smartskip, record a video, and watch a recording video at the same time, without any problems. No studdering, no skipping, no delays even when the CPU is always pegged at 100%.

BTV 3.4.2 rocks!

You can do this but you need a second licensed copy of BTV if you are going to install it on two machines. Also worth noting is that the 2nd machine will not automatically ShowSqueeze and SmartChapter the shows. You can however go into the WebAdmin on the second machine and queue them up.
