Freezes while watching recorded shows

Has anyone else noticed that those freezes during playback have actually gotten worse since the newer versions? For example, if a new show begins recording while you're watching something from the library, video and often audio will freeze and stutter for the better part of 1-2 minutes. The annoying thing is, even the remote stuff won't respond until it's over, so you can't even pause and wait for things to settle down.

We've disabled stuff like the commercial finding stuff, but it doesn't help much.

The drive I have in there is an ~180GB / 8MB WD SE drive, with an AMD ~3400 I believe, along with a half gig of ram. Not massive, but certainly should be enough.

Couldn't Snapstream work a bit harder at their threading cpu priorities?

I have not had this problem, but I know others have mentioned it. I think it is on the list of things to look into for the next beta.

I notice these hickups, but they never last 1 or 2 minutes.

They usually last about 5 to 7 seconds, and a quick 7 second jump back lets me see the frozen part.

I believe I've had some improvement when installing Catalyst 4.2 drivers, maybe shaved 1 or 2 seconds. Not very sure though.

Enough people have complained about this issue that I expect the next version to solve it, especially since older versions did not suffer this problem.

Actually, the last two public builds have shown it to be "fixed" in the release notes.

I think it's time to test stuff before it's deemed to be fixed.

Yea I think 1154 release or something like that was supposed to help with this, but it didn't for me. I am hoping 3.5 will improve this. Like Eric3a the hiccups only last for a few seconds and if it causes me to miss something I just have to hit the skip back, which I have set at 10 seconds, and I can watch it again.

I think the biggest embarrassment, is when you're showing off your high-tech tv setup to some friends, and you have to say "oh . .hold on a sec, this doesnt take long .. " *click* *click* .. ok, there ..

I too still see these hickups also. I've also noticed that it hangs on certain MPG files where as SageTV, MVP, ShowCenter, WinDVD and Media Player do not.

I'll add my voice to this thread; see it when watching a recorded show while Live TV is finishing up or starting a new recording. Usually only lasts a few seconds for me too; but you always know when its the top or bottom of the hour.

Me Too

I also notice it but ONLY when watching a recorded show when a new recording is starting up. The bummer is if I happen to press a button on my Remote Wonder at the exact same instant. Then I lose functionality on the remote until the next reboot. A real pisser.
