Re: All Users Please Post Current Deals/Sales Here

I seem to recall that normally the jumper usually is a delayed start option.

It is used to stagger drives start up so that the current draw from each disk during motor start up is spread and doesn't bring down the entire psu rail.

If you have many disks and a weak power supply, you may find it useful to stagger the drives. If you have a monster psu and only a few drives, doesn't matter if it's sata or pata, then don't worry about it.

New drives may have more intelligent / sw controlled options - read the manual

If it works though... don't fix it

depends is the sata the boot drive? if it is setting this jumper will have no effect.

merrypig is right.

PM2 Mode – To designate the drive as power-up in standby (power management 2 or PM2)
enabled, install the jumper shunt on pins 3 and 4. The mode enables controlled spinup,
mainly used for server/workstation environments operating in multiple drive configurations.

IMPORTANT: PM2 mode requires a compatible BIOS that supports this feature. If PM2
is enabled and not supported by BIOS, the drive will not spin up and therefore will not be
detected by the system.

Re: All Users Please Post Current Deals/Sales Here

It is not the boot drive, but I have had issues (before this drive) of the OS locking coming out of standby. Mostly this was related to my A180 card, but I still get it occasionally after some massive HD loads or errors.

I might try the jumper if I get another stall coming out of Standby. I assume there is no setting for PATA hard drives for this, any idea about a regedit to do that?

I swear, last question, after this back to new deals.

Another sale on the Hauppauge HVR-1600 at Circuit City.

http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Haupp...oductDetail.do

$80 with a $20 rebate. Rebate expires 3/17 so you have til tomorrow. I don't know a lot about this card but I know it has a over the air HD tuner and a standard def tuner. A friend of mine bought one and he's quite happy with it.

Zeta, if you're referring to the Newegg BFGW6600GTOCX rebate, it ended 4/29/07. If you bought it during the promo, you can still download the rebate here:

SiliconDust HDHomeRun / Gyration MCE Remote Bundle!
PCAlchemy has for $199 the Gyration MCE Remote, HDHomeRun dual QAM tuner, a premium splitter and two RG6 cables.
LINK

The HDHomeRun sells for $170 by itself and the Gyration remote is selling for $99 so this is a good deal if you need both.
