Thumbs down How do I uninstall trial version

I have been using the trial version build #899 and my trial period has expired. I want to completely remove the program from this system as I will be building an Htpc using another computer soon and no longer want this on the trial computer. I tried to go to windows Xp control panel and remove it in the add/remove section and there is a reference to snapstream but no options to remove the program it only tells me it is rarely used, all other programs listed have a change or remove option. I even treid to reinstall the latest version and then remove it and I get some sort of error codes that I did not write down. Is the a problem because I have not purcahase the software yet. I only wanted to try it as I do not have the proper hardware (tv capture card yet).
I was using an old WinTv- USB device that works but is not all that good and will soon get a Win-PVR-250 for my new setup. In the mean time I dont want the trial version taking up harddrive space.

There should be a button in the add/remove programs to let you “change” (or “modify” or something along those lines) you btv settings and that will bring up the installer which will allow you to do a complete uninstall of the program.

However, if for whatever that does not work I think you can download the installer again, and when you start it up it will detect the old install and ask you to uninstall it.

There are no options available in the add/remove program section for snapstream. I tried to re install new and the system hangs up and gives me an exception error . I cant just delete the whole snapsteam folder either because of a msvcr.dll file or something. It is like someting is missing in the unistall info for this program and I am locke out. Everytime I load beyond tv it asks me to go through the config wizard but it won't work either. I can load the program but it is obviously loaded in a castrated mode do to the expired trial period. I just want this of my computer and may well give up an snapstream and go to Sage TV instead. This sucks !!!

Well it sounds like your computer is not in very good shape…

Did you try downloading and running the installer like I mentioned? I think it will ask you to uninstall the old version and then once that is done the real installer will start at which point in time you can just cancel out of it.

Yes I tried to re-install and remove and everything else I can think of. when I try to re-install it starts the install and detects another version as you said, then it says to hit next to upgrade. When I do that it starts to install just fine and the gives me an error message "Error 1316 a network error occured wile attempting to read from the fill C:\windows\Installer\PVS_V3\Profile????_Web_update .899

Is there some way to manualy remove this program or the registry entries that keep me from removing it ?? Everything was fine untill last night when my trial period ended, so I have to beleive its a problem with the unvalid Trial keys or someting that They have deactivated until or when I upgrade
Thanks for any help you cangive me.

Exclamation Still no luck deinstalling or re-installing

Ok, I got brave and went into my system registry and deleted everything I could fond relating to BTV/PVS/Snapstream and whatnot. I deleted evrything in the Snapsteam program folder and as far as I could tell it was gone except I still see a program listing in the Add/Remove section of control panel for Snapstream with no options to change or remove or uninstall. I.m shure there is a registry file or folder that stored this info but it eludes me where. I would love to get ride of the line in my Add/Remove listings. Any Help would be apreciated.

Second before I did all of that I tried to just uprade or reinstall the latest build ver 3.4.4 build 1154 and I got a message that there was an earlier version build 899 . It allows me to proceed wth the install to a point and then stops and says its reverting to the old build and gives me all kinds of error messages.

Now I cant even re-install the program unless perhaps once I purchase the full version keys an enter them into the install page it will bypass all for this and install the retail version.

I was fairly happy with the product once I figured out how to get it running and installed a the NvVcd mpeg decoder. I am using an older WinTv -Usb for capture and at first thought it was not going to work for Mpegg recording but once I got it figured out it seamed to be not so bad but my trial period ran out just as I was getting things figured out.

I can not use SageTv with this setup as it requires an onboard mpegg processor to work so I cant evaluate it at this time. I will eventually be getting a pvr250 card and will have more options then.

Given all of my problems to date I am a little uneasy about purchasing BTV until I am sure I can re-install it without a full backup and restore of my hard drive. Some body please tell me everything is gooing to work out once I purchase it and re-install.

Tweak UI from Microsoft's free download support site will let you do that.
Sounds like your computer is a mess and needs a good cleaning/reformat anyway.
