Exclamation VIRUS ALERT: W32/Qevex.A@bd detected in 42MB BeyondTV Executable (BTV_V34_FULL.exe)

Anybody else's anti-virus programs detecting the W32/Qevex.A@bd virus in the full 3.4 executable for BeyondTV as it's downloaded from Snapstream? I pulled the 3.4 executable down from SnapStream back in December and it's been sitting on another machine until I was ready to use it. Since my F-Prot popped up an infected flag on it, I decided to try a re-download straight from SnapStream which caused F-Prot to launch another flag on the temporary internet file of it since it was in the process of downloading... soooo, it appears there is something in the core SnapStream file still.

I'm wondering if this is a false read since I can't find reference to this virus on F-Prot (oddly enough since it detected it in the first place), Cert, Symantec, or McAfee's sites. Some digging has some other people calling it a trojan, but none of the official sites seem to have reference to it.

Anybody else found this thing?

Exactly... the machine I originally downloaded it on runs the latest McAfee and it didn't say a word about it either. I'm assuming it's nothing, but it's a little wierd that F-Prot flagged it with a specific name.

I have both Norton and F-Prot. I've got every download of BTV since 3.0 here on my machine and none of them have any virus in them according to both programs.

Chances are these might have got infected somewhere on one of your machines.

I'd think that was a possibility if the fact remained that the downloaded file coming from Snapstream is coming across infected. I've tried on 4 different machines, both on my network and a separate one, and all do the same thing.. F-Prot flags it as infected. Have you tried downloading it since mid-December or later? Maybe it was infected after you got your copy.

Maybe it's a freaky heuristics thing. I do have everything jacked up on the settings.

I didn't realize till last week I was still running the 889 build instead of the 1154. I thought I had already updated. Anyway I just downloaded it last week.

Submit it to F-Prot as a "false positive." They should be able to have it fixed in the next definition update or two...

Actually, that's just what I did and they responded back saying it was a false-positive and that it was fixed in the latest signature files.
