2 more feature requests...

First off let me say that I'm extremely taken with Beyond TV, I've run across very few software packages of any type that were this easy to set up and (for me at least) bug-free.

Anyway, I have a couple of questions/requests for the developers and since I saw other similar threads I though I should put them here...

1. Could there be smaller padding settings? say 30 seconds and 15 seconds? It seems as though 1 minute is a bit large, particularly at the end of a show when recording two consecutive programs. I tend to get the beginning of show #2 tacked on to show #1.

2. Is there multiple tuner support on the way at all? I've read both yes and no on here. The first thing everyone asks is (can I watch something else at the same time, followed by, can you record two shows at once?). I'm so impressed with my PVR 250 I'm itching to get another one.

3. Is Beyond TV actually getting the new show schedule in the background or do I need to tell it to do so? I'm not used to this unintrusive behavior (Showsqueeze is a dream come true!).

and finally..

4. A command line function that went directly to the Search page would be MOST welcome, my wife has a really hard time finding it.

Thanks a lot and keep up the excellent work.

Actually, in back-to-back circumstances, BTV disables padding altogether. So your recording ends exactly on the hour (or whatever) and the next one begins exactly on the hour (in theory at least, there is usually a couple of seconds between the time one finishes and the other starts)

Thanks for the info!

In regards to the padding function, I stand corrected. I have been recording Seinfeld episodes here in Seattle and they sometimes run 3 in a row on certain nights so I thought I was getting some "runover" from the previous recorded episode but in reality I was getting a minute from an episode I didnt want. This happened about 3 times and I just wasn't paying attention to which episode was which. Now that I take a closer look, it's working quite well.

One thing you might consider is your system clock. It seems almost every computer I have has a really poor timepiece in it. They will lose a couple minutes a day. With XP only syncing every 7 days that can cause a problem. I have set my BTV system to resync the clock every hour now. This has made quite a bit of difference in getting the beginning and ending of programs..

Speaking for European Users of Snapstream, the optimal solution in terms of padding would be if BTV would support the VPS/Showview system. This would eliminate the need for padding as the recording alsways starts when it is supposed to do and ends only when the program has actually finished, even the issue of slightly off system clocks would be eliminated (all this is accomplished by a special signal broadcast by the tv-station) ...
