Sony Hi-Fi VCR (SLVN700)

I just bought this VCR on Saturday to record from VHS to DVD and I must say that the quality is superb. I highly recommend this VCR to anyone who wants high quality recordings.

I keep the VCR upright on its side next to my PC. Does anyone know whether there is any possibility of damaging the hardware by keeping it this way?
