intial setup

I have been reading this group for a couple weeks now and I think I'm ready to take the plunge. I still have quite a few questions and would appreciate your direction since i'm still a newbie.

I have an nvidia 4200 w/ video out
an x10 rf remote, sb live, amd 1200 with
384 megs & 80gig hd for the project so far

I was going to buy a pvr-250 and an avcast / modulator
I only have one TV at the moment but was considering another along with a possible security cam or two.

It sounds like I will need to track where the cable comes into the house and insert the avcast. i then need to attach my pc running snap stream to a media caster and then connect it a cable outlet in order to view programs on a channel of my choosing.

i use a cable modem for work and need my connection as stable as possible. should i run a 2nd line to that room to keep my internet and cable input as clean as possible? if not would i just split the cable feed in that room, one to my pvr, and one the media caster and then to my nvidia out card? will my audio be in stereo or mono back at the tv? (was going to stream audio to stereo in order to pump music to my stereo)

i primarily want to do this for the convience and simplicity of having a single remote to handle a tivo like setup without the extra hardware in the living room and the monthly service fee. is there a major hole in my logic and if so what would be a better way but equally cost effective? it sounds like this will run less than $200 bucks. many thanks, i appreciate it (thanks rich a & others for your helpfull posts).
