Anyone using uICE with Snapstream?

Hi All,

In my quest to try and get all the HTPC apps using a consistent and logical Remote layout across them, I've tried a couple of applications.

I tried TotalHomeRemote, but it's not really designed for the ATI RW products, and I can't justify buying new remotes at this time (still have 3 ATI RWs working fine).

Note I have *briefly* taken a look at Girder, but I don't think I have the time for it...

I tried uICE and it looks about right, but I was wondering - before I go through the setup - has anyone got it working with BTV?

Are there any issues / gotchas?

Works fine for me. I have used this profile since 3.0 . I customized my own. Delete the .txt extensions and use this as a action preset for uICE .

Thanks - I'll try it out.

uICE is certainly looking great thus far. Much easier to use than Girder and .. frankly .. it seems as though - if one were so inclined - you could do everything with it that can be done in Girder.

Does anyone know where to purchase it from? The mediatexx website no longer works.

I purchased it 2 years ago, but I'm totally unable to purchase a 2nd copy.

Their website said something about moving in February.

I myself think the software is very good, but not impressed with their lack of response and lack of forums. Hopefully it's a move related thing and they will be more responsive and get some forums up.

I had a lot of problems trying to get Beyond Tv and myhtpc to work correctly with Uice. I am using the ATI remote wonder with it and I could not get consistant results. Problems I had were trying to get it to only control one application at a time. At times it seemed to ignore my remote or be very sluggish also. Right when I thought I had everything working I would go to click on somthing and BAM, 3 clicks up, or I go to click on pause and it would go pause,play,pause,play. So I am out trying Girder now to see if things are any better. It really isnt that bad actually if you follow the step by step directions on the Snapstream website to get Girder working with BeyondTv.

Edit - The web site is working now. I just noticed and needed the BTV preset.

I wonder what could be wrong . Action / filename = D:\Program Files\SnapStream Media\Beyond TV 3\WTLPVSApp.exe

Main Window = WTLPVSApp.exe

It can be not working if your using a 2 different programs at once with 2 action sets . You have to use the menu to pick which program you controling . Lack of control means keypresses going to the wrong window or app .

My action setup is little complicated in the "Forward button " , "Play buttong " , "Rewind button" , "Stop button" . I changed those to do have 2 layouts and do more than what one button could do .

You could make those be one layout commands and see if it is 100%. I live with the 99% working for me . I do not have a remote with enough buttons to do everything including using the stop button to go to Screen Brightness/Contrast/Gamma/Deintrlace settings .
