29.97 fps or 30.0 fps?

Since NTSC is actually 29.97 fps, should I use that or does it not matter?

Also, for WMV do most people use V8 or V9 codec? I tried both but didn't see too much benefit with V9, which also uses more CPU.

29.97fps is the correct rate to use.

I personally use WMV7 (to transcode to), as the difference between 7 and 8 is barely noticeable, and 9 takes about 3 times as long!

How / where does one make the WMV selection. I have no recollection of a choise in this matter (but that proves little )

Now that you ask, what should we use for PAL? 25?
