Wink VideOH! USB2 vs Win Tv-PVR-250

Hello enthusiasts!

I am getting ready to buy one of the bundled solutions from Snapstream but I am still unsure of which one. I have read several positings on the VideOh! USB2 product but it doesnt seem like those doing the posting actually have the product. Does the VideOh! USB 2 product have any advanges over the Win Tv-PVR-250? Or visa versa? Is compatability better or worse with each product?

I read an article about the VideOh! product not being able to fast forward through video in the 2x, 6x, or 8x like a vcr but rather a 5 second skip that takes it forever to navigate video with. Is this problem eliminated by the Beyond tv software?

Would greatly appreciate any advice you could lend.

Thank you

Will

I recently bought the videoh usb 2 tuner and i just downloaded the trial version of snapstream today to see how much better it is over the crappy win dvr3.

I can tell you that the fast forward feature does work with snapstream and it is really nice. also, you can use the remote from the adaptec device with snapstream, ( i selected no remote in the setup for this because the adaptec on wasn't listed, but it still seems to work.) the only problem is, the remote doesnt seem to work AS WELL. with win dvr, no matter where you aimed the remote, it worked every time. i dont know how this is possible, but with snapstream it seemed as if i had to press the buttons much more firmly to make it do waht its supposed to and half the time it just doesnt work.

i thought the program guide from snapstream was really sweet. plus you get descriptions of shows and everything, and it looks really nice.

but for some reason i couldnt get the video stream to play properly. at first i had the horizontal lines but i soon reduced this by making the software take care of deinterlacing (it was off at first), but it still seemes like there may have been slightly more horizontal lines at the edges than in win dvr. also, the video feed simply wasnt playing smoothly, it was choppy, even when i was running in timeshift mode so that it wasnt comletely live. i am not sure how i can be having this problem but i didnt try too hard to solve it yet. if i figure something out maybe i'll post it here

Thank you, Mfirek, for your feedback!

It sounds like no matter what I buy there is going to be a fair amount of fiddling around to get things right.. Best of luck to you and please let me know if you can get it all working smoothly.

If you are having choppy video I would strongly recommend you use version 3.4.2 available at the top of this board as a sticky, it was created to resolve this issue, as well as several other little bugs...

Another USB2 option is the WinTV PVR-USB2 device...
