Snapstream VS MS Windows Media Edition

OK, here's the deal.

I love my Snapstream setup... I can watch programs I recorded from my browser at work, make DVD backups, blah blah blah...

Now I just saw a MS Windows Media Edition PC and it is awsome. I don't know all the details but it seems to do some of what snapstream does and more.

It has a great menu system for viewing TV, recorded shows, pictures, listening to music and a few other things.

I don't think it can setup recordings off site or stream video or repack to divx.

What I want is for Snapstream to come out with a full blown menu system that does more than Tivo like functions. How much more would it cost to put all those other nifty menu items into their front-end? I don't think much.

The ultimate PC would be a small box sitting on top of my cable box that does TV, DVD, pictures and music to say the least.

What do you guys think?

Just incase you didn't know Windows XP media center requires a new computer, and uses a "special" microsoft only format to record to.

Its a nice interface, but I had both at one time and decided when I formatted it last week not bother installing the Media Center component. Media Center crashed entirely too much for me!

I formatted my MCE as well... Locked up daily and the proprietary ms-dvr format is a real pain
