We got mouse support!! but use all its buttons?

I do prefer the use of a remote but some do prefer the mouse.

The past couple days designing a few systems and messing with mine, I caught myself using the mouse (only cause it was closer than the remote, and me to lazy to move). I also caught myself instinctively using the thumb button normally reserved for internet back feature to attempt to go back to the previous screen on BTV like the esc key does. Course it didn't work

Now besides going into mouse settings and remapping that button as the esc key, which would fubar it for any use as an internet back key, is there any way to get this as a function in BTV or anyone know a way to change it?

That's strange, because my back internet button does work. I'm using a MS Optical Trackball Explorer with Intellipoint installed.

I find the back button very useful. Of course, the forward button doesn't work, but at least its halfway there

Hmmm!! might not have been totally clear but maybe.

Are you saying your back (thumb button) actualls performs like the esc while in BTV full screen mode? I usually have to click on the < arrow at the top, next to the home icon.

Yes for me in full screen mode the back button works like esc. I am using build 899 and Windows 2003 server.

I know we implemented the back button and the mouse scroll wheel in BTV. Also the clicking of the scroll wheel for enter. The scroll wheel everywhere else acts as up and down. We all have Microsoft Intellimice. Also a few logitech mice. All with the default drivers loaded. None of that intelli stuff.

Gyration mouse wheel

Anyone had any joy getting the mouse wheel working on a gyration keyboard and mouse setup?

I thought it was working on mine, but I'll have to check again. I'm pretty sure it was working when you want to try to scroll through the recorded shows list...shrug. I'll double check again when I get home.

Well an update here.

Not sure about the gyration. Don't have one laying around I can test, but the mouse functions work as described by PBMax. I had some odd stuff going on with my own system which was interfering so it wasn't working for me for a time. I really need to stop using my home system as a test bed for every gadget and gizmo but its hard not to.

Mouse wheel advance in recordings?

After some more experimentation I found that the wheel does scroll up and down as PBMax describes.

The only disapointment I had was that I expected, when watching a recording that the wheel could be used to skip forward and backward through recordings like it does in something like showshifter.

As it is you have to try and click on places on the bar - a bit fiddly.

Also the right mouse button does nothing.
Perhaps having it flip between the details and Play/timeshift screens would be useful?

Has anyone managed to map mouse buttons to this using a third party app or something?

Right mouse action...

Take a look at

http://www.macros.com/

As they say...

Macro Express is the premier Windows macro utility. With Macro Express, you can record, edit and play back mouse and keyboard macros. Its powerful tools and robust features will make you more productive.

What is a macro? A macro is a way to automate a task that you perform repeatedly or on a regular basis. It is a series of commands and actions that can be stored and run whenever you need to perform the task. You can record or build a macro, and then play the macro to automatically repeat the series of commands or actions.

===========================

And you can specify that a macro be activated by a key combination mouse click, appearance of a certain window, and can restrict it to only one program.

I LOVE this program! $39.95, but worth every penny.

No, I don't work for Insight Software.

There is software that does this for free and rather well. I used it a long time ago for those pay-to-surf advertisment dotcoms that went out of business because of people like me being to creative

Not quite sure what it was called but it was definitely the works and it was definitely free. Think it was ghost something or another.
