best tv out card?

Is there a simple answer to which is the best tv out card? I've gradually upgraded my hardware to the point that I have an AthlonXP 3200 and a PVR-250, so recording is going just fine. Now my wife likes the Live TV, so I wonder if my GeForce2 is as good as it gets for TV output -- or could I do better?

Unless it is doing something such as showing the colors too warm, I would I recommend just staying with the GeForce2 till it blows up. In other words, a new card is not going to improve the quality that much unless something is seriously wrong with your current card.

From my experience, the S-video out of a new GeForce FX based card is worlds apart from the many GeForce 2 cards I have tried. Is it necessary to buy one? No, but the output is MUCH better. Plus you can't zoom the image with the GeForce 2's to get rid of black borders.

i went from a GeForce2 to a 9800 Pro, and could see minimum improvement, I figured it had already stablized a while back. Guess I am not that picky though...

Are all of the FX cards that much better? I checked and there's quite a price difference between the 5200's and the newer ones.

Thank you for the information, I've never really kept up with all the video cards before and it's quite confusing (especially since the reviews all talk about gameplay and all I care about is TV quality).

I just bought and installed a Verto GeForce FX. Worlds of difference over the GForce 4 Ti4200 I had in there before. I was having bad issues with compression artifacts, and motion 'blur'. Those look to be gone. Only problem now, is some faint lines rolling across the screen on the diagonal. I also sometimes get some 'color burn' on the screen, but it doesn't happen during TV, fortunatly - only on still screens, like the desktop.

I highly recommend upgrading the output card if you are having trouble. I have a PVR-350, and now the system look to be really useable. But I would appreciate any help with the issues I mentioned above.

Thanks!!

I am currently using an ATI 9800 AIW using the component video out at HDTV 720p and the desktop is awesome looking compared to my old Ti4200.

I also have a question though...

Do the GforceFX cards support HDTV output? And has anyone compared the difference between the 9800 output vs. the 9000 output?

The diagonal lines are power/interference related.

reroute any cabling for signal away from power of any sort, including the computer power supply if possible, it could be induced before it reaches your computer also.

This can happen alot when people have power cables and coax cables haphazardly wrapped around each other and flung all over the place.

Is this an issue of power/ interference inside my computer, or only on the feeds in and out of the computer? Should I try removing some additional cards inside my computer?

I followed the advice and bought an FX card (this one for $54.99 including FedEx shipping: http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...121-154&depa=1 ) and just installed it.

I LOVE it. -- and more importantly my wife loves it and now loves BeyondTV even more (which lets me continue to play with it).

I highly recommend the card for TV output. The picture is much cripser and brighter than my old GeForce2 card.
