I have the WinTV-PVR-USB2 working with it. The older USB version isn't supported.

Do you find the picture quality in BTV using the USB2 version to be soft? I find live tv and recordings to have a soft picture in BTV. I have the WinTV cranked to 12MB/sec. Videos look fine when viewed outside BTV. Is there a sharpness setting somewhere?

No, I find it identical to the PVR-250. You might just need to make a couple of adjustments inside of snapstream while viewing the video.

With 3.4 of BTV you no longer need to adjust the video quality settings in wintv, beyondtv can now control the card, however you need the latest driver from hauppauge to do this.

Im sure the adjustments are the same as us with pvrs have, upping the bitrate and/or using VBR encoding for better image quality, then using the motion comp/noise reduction filters and adjusting them to something that clears the image up

I had my older WinTV-Usb working just fine for about a week until I lost my trial and cant uninstal it completely so I can re-install it.
It was a Cpu hog but once I installed the NvDvd drivers the picture qhality was pretty good considering the slow usb 1.1 connection. I was using Direct TV as my source and since the older WinTV-usb is a mono capture device I just plugged my audio straight into my line input from the onboard audio and was able to record and play in stereo. The main drawback to using this device is that it lacks onboard Mpeg2 encoding so it uses a lot of computer resources.
If and when I ever get a fix from the official support staff on how to do a clean unistall so I can reinstall it I will test it further.
