Tuning my digital cable box

Hi all... on advice from people in this forum, I have just ordered my Hauppauge PVR-350. Now, the question is, how do I get it to work with my digital cable box? I understand about IR blaster options. However, I'd prefer to use the serial port on my digital box. But I don't know if it works...

I am using a motorola digital box (I don't know the model - can't seem to find the number), on Cox Cable in Rhode Island. Does anyone know how to use the serial interface on this system?

HELP!!!

Thanks

Adam

Its most likely a DCT2000 series box. You can find a bunch of information about using the serial port by doing a search for DCT2000 here on the forums. I use the serial port on mine, and it works great. As you'll see in some of those other threads, some of the boxes dont have the serial port enabled.

You might find your model number on the bottom of the tuner. Mine has no numbers on front or back, but on the bottom is: DCT2244/1166/abcdef. From what I can tell, the sequence of letters determines what options are installed. Mine doesn't even have the 9-pin serial port (let alone one that's enabled in firmware), nor s-video out. Seems like those are letters G and K? I haven't found a listing of them, but that's what I remember from browsing ebay and comparing the model #'s to the rear panel pics.
Anyone have an official (or just better researched) listing of the DCT2000 options?
