AIW 9000 + HDTV adapter

I'm hoping someone here can answer my question, I've had no luck elsewhere.

I have an ATI AIW 9000. I upgraded from an AIW 7500 because the ATI web site at one point said you had to have an 8500 or better. This was however before the 9000 was introduced.

Now, when I go to the web site there's no HDTV adapter listed for the 9000. There's one for the 8500, 9700, 9600, and 9800 but no 9000. Ditto when I checked Svideo.com in their ATI section.

Emails to both companies have gone unanswered.

The question: can I use an adapter for one of the others on my 9000? It has a DVI output and there are adapters for the others that connect to the DVI output. Anyone know of any reason such an adapter wouldn't work on the 9000?

The way ATI has handled the HDTV adapter business is downright terrible...

I have an 8500 with its adapter, as well as a 9700AIW with its integrated adapter. They really don't live up to ATIs hype, and I haven't been using either of them to hookup my HTPC to my HDTV.

Instead, I'm using the following to convert VGA to component: http://www.digitalconnection.com/pro...eo/kdvtca3.asp

Another product that provides the same functionality is: http://www.digitalconnection.com/Pro...Video/9a60.asp . This one is cheaper, but I had one for two weeks and sent it back for the better picture quality of the Key Digital.

In order to get one of these transcoders to work, you do need to use some software called PowerStrip (http://www.entechtaiwan.net/ps.htm) to tweak resolutions for your graphics cards.
