Would this work? Sage and SnapStream.

I've been fooling around with Sage and a little with SS. I want to have multiple tuners which I know only Sage does now. But the wife (and I) don't like the UI of Sage.

If I have a setup with multiple tuners being recorded via Sage to a network share, could I setup a Snapstream workstation with a tuner on our main TV for the WAF that also has access to the recorded mpeg2 files on the Sage share. I know the recording capabilties would be seperate. I just want to make sure the TV with Snapstream has access to recorded stuff from Sage. Could they be controlled (pause, FF, Req) as the live and Snapstream recorded mpeg2's are..

What would be the downside to accessing the Sage recorded mpeg2's from the Snapstream UI? Anything?

Thx!
Frank

I had SS on my office PC for a bit and added in the network directories from the Sage server. I had some file sharing issues where Sage would go to start recording a new show and it would be accessed by SS (I guess to add in the library) and Sage would give me a DirectShow access denied error. It did not happen all the time, but once was enough. I would recommend going with one or the other.

If you can be patient Sage 2.0 will come out eventually and the UI will change. Otherwise just give up the multi-tuners for awhile until SS gets that sorted out.

Thanks for the reply cmasters...even though it's not what I wanted to hear...

Thought I finally had a solution figured out where I did not have to wait until "who knows when" from Sage or Snapstream to come out with their prospective upgrades.. Guess I stay with my DirecTivo's longer.

Without being specific, because (1) I don't work for Snapstream, and (2) things change, multiple tuners is on the horizon for Snapstream and version upgrades seem to happen every 1.5 to 2 months at present. The last version upgrade was late last week. I would strongly encourage you to check back frequently on this topic. In the meantime, look at rkuo's comments in this thread - Multiple tuner support
