Pvr-250mce
With all the recommendations to use this card with SS is there any plan in incorporating a schedule radio record function? And will SS plan on selling it directly instead of the "regular" pvr-250. Hope it's a quick question.
Thanks! |

you can get them however i dont think they will end up bundling them because the 250mce versions dont come with a remote (nor the ability to add one) where as both of the bundles they sell now are basically "complete", they both have everything one woudl need (short of a video card with tv out) to just plug in and go like windows mce does.
radio has been requested but it isnt one of those "must have" features since it would only be usefull in the US/Canada and it is going to be more difficult because like closed captioning it is going to have to be maintained on a per card and per driver basis because there isnt a "common" interface for it like there is for tv tuning under direct show. |

in terms of the remote control, wouldn't any of the previously (in other threads) mentioned remotes work? RobertH your statements seems to indicate that the pvr-250mce will not work with a remote and I think this is not the case.

Though I agree its not a priority feature.

MCE works great. I use the AIW Remote Wonder and am happy with how well it works. It was huge improvement over AIW 9000. Now I just use the AIW as tv out and to stream live tv over my lan. Look on ebay.

My Solution...
I use the PVR250 MCE edition (purchased on ebay). It also doenst have a remote. My card is in my HTPC in the living room and I already have a RF keyboard/mouse but I didn't want to have to bring them out just to watch TV.
My solution was to utilize components I already had. Namely an old ACER Airboard infrared key board and a IR learning remote (SONY RM-AV3000 to be precise but it's not required). I plugged the keyboards IR reciever into a USB port so I had 2 keyboard inputs in effect (the RF and IR keyboards). I then just loaded the a preset PVR settings code (for a sony pvr but Tivo etc would work) into my remote. I then re-programmed every button by making the remote learn the keyboard's signal (ie teach the remote's channel up to learn my keyboards up arrow). Now all I use is the one learning remote for all my AV gear Make sense? ![]() P.S. You can print out a list of all the keyboard commands and their usage in the help documentation section. Use this as a guide for reprogramming. Last edited by koan00; 12-21-2003 at 02:04 PM. |
