One card helping another

I recently upgrade my video card from a voodoo3 3000 to an ATI Radeon 7200 64MB and have noticed a feature now in snapstream that was not there before (at least not that i noticed). I also have a ati wonder VE that can capture TV.

I have the option of hardware encoding but can I use this only if I'm actually bringing the signal in on this card or can the card it get the signal from the other card and then use the hardware encoding it can do?

Obvious I would love if the Radeon could do the encoding but if it can't get the signal then it would be really tough. The Radeon does have a composite in but that would mean I would have to put a VCR or something in front of the card. Any thoughts?

i'm not sure what you are asking. do you have the impression that the 7200 has hdwr encoding? you mentionned three different cards (the 7200, the voodoo, and the wonder ve), none of which have hardware encoding. the only product that ati makes with hdwr encoding is the e-home wonder, which is not supported by pvs.

pvs solely supports hdwr encoding with the hauppage pvr 250 and 350 and the Adaptec VideOh! Media Center. only if you have one of these three cards can you do hdwr encoding with pvs.

have i missed something?

Fahlcor,

Do you mean hardware de-interlacing by any chance?
