Watching Streams on TV

Is it possible to use SnapStream on a TV (like TIVO)?

Has anyone watched the captured streams on a TV?

Is this possible? And if it is, what's the quality like?

Anyone know of alternatives if this is not possible?

Thanks,
Akash

Many snapstream users ONLY use the software on their TVs. I have a box specifically built to run SnapStream and other useful software ( i.e., DVD player, music player, etc. ). I have it hooked up to my TV and entertainment system all of the time. I am completely satisfied with quality, and don't think I would notice any difference between watching TV on my digital cable box, watching live TV though snapstream, or watching my recorded programs.

I have Snapstream running on a dedicated PC connected to my home theater where in the past I have had a DirecTivo, and a ReplayTV.

All 3 have similar, if not identical picture quality depending on settings.

I actually prefer many of the features in Snapstream and response time is quicker than other systems for menus, etc.

Yes, it works great. My system does not even have a monitor attached, just a TV. Other than being a little hard to read sometimes when in Windows, there are no problems.

Same here as TomZ. Only problem is hard to read fonts when in "regular" windows.

Oh, by the way, one thing to do when running windows on a TV is to go to the display properties : advanced settings and select a larger DPI. This helps a lot with the readability.

I have a question for all of you guys that have it working, I noticed that you have the ati and pvs250, are you using the pvs250 for the input signal and using the ati 9000 for the output back to the TV via S-video?

Yes. The PVR250 is only the encoder here. The video card outputs the signal to the TV. If you had a PVR350, that would also output MPEG video to the TV (but not from PVS).
