camcorder to pc - which card
hi there! i'm looking for advice ....i need to know which card i will need for my purpses. I have a camcorder and would like to play it back through the pc and also capture some parts from the tape.
Which card will i need for this? I have quite a good system - amd 1000 ghx - 256 mb ram - etc please help!! mandy |

It depends on how your camcorder outputs.
If it only has RCA jacks for video and audio out then you can get something like a Dazzle Digital Video Creator (USB). You can also use the Hauppaugue (sp?) WinTV series that have alternative inputs (besides a coax cable). It's what I use and for my cheesy family videos of my cat, it works great. If you have firewire and/or you need broadcast tv quality or you want to burn to DVD's then you'll definately need firewire (maybe invest in a firewire card which is pretty cheap and then a firewire camcorder which costs $500US and up). |
