Question How to convert recorded TV to SVCD using FlashMpeg?

Hi,

I've recorded a bunch of shows, movies, etc. that I would like to make SVCDs out of. Problem is, I recorded them in DVD quality, so each 2 hour movie is approx 3GB after I edit out the commercials. How do I compress and convert that into a 700MB SVCD? (once I have the 700MB file, I can write it with Nero no prob)

I'd like to use the newest FlaskMpeg (b78) to do this (since it is free) but the UI is amazingly complex and I have no idea where to even start since there is no good help.

I've searched Google as well, and can't find anything so it may be that only the developers know how to use the program <G> but I am hoping that someone else has figured it out too...

Thanks,
Dan

I have flask version 0.6 and under the Profiels menu you can select svcd, svcd long play, vcd, ... dont know if this actually works tho but you can play with it

once i open the file select the svcd template then hit flask it, a dialog comes up you can hit settings on that and run thru the various tabs making sure anywhere you see svcd that it is selected, you are probably going to need a bitrate calculator to fudge the bitrates for the video around so that it will fit your video, but if you found flask im sure you can find one of those.

I havent tried it I just use tmpgenc to re-encode the files and to commercial cropping, plus it has auto fit bitrate settings that will adjust the bitrates to fit specific cd/dvd formats

When you say you use tmpgenc, you mean the plus version right (I read your tutorial that is sticky). I'd rather not have to buy something if I dont have to, which is why I was hoping flask would do the job...

Thanks for the info, if anyone else has experience I'd love to hear it.

the regular one does the same thing but it doesnt have the wizard and the mpeg decoder dies after 14 days, flask will do the same job but like you said its a pain in the butt to configure with all those options, tmpgenc is just klikity klikity done
