MPEG1/MPEG2 video and audio encoder

if i buy one of the OEM versions of the pvr 250 it does not come with video and audio encoder. how much of a problem would that be?

I believe the OEM versions of the board don't come with the IR receiver or the remote. If you don't need these then you're fine. If you plan on replacing the remote with a StreamZap then this would be a fine choice.

From the standpoint of recording the retail and OEM versions are the same. Either way you can retrieve the latest drivers from their website.

Cayars is rigth OEM PVR dosen't come with a IR port and it come with REAL RCA Audio jack and some newer 250 that do come with FM Tuner now know as WinTV-PVR 250MCE but I have not ask Hauppauge on weather or not it come with IR port and Remote.
