My entire set-up didn't cost as much as the high end unit....and I have total control (well, most of the time...sometimes the puter does or doesnt do what it wants) over the media.

For the non-technical / computer illiterate people of the world (the majority) this would be a fantastic gadget....but the sticker price is just too shocking to even consider it as a viable option (even if I had the dough to blow, I couldn't drop my hard earned cash on this).
