If you captured your mpg2 file with the correct settings in SS and you have nero 6 ultra all you need to do is:

Start Nero Burning ROM (haven’t had any luck with Nero Express, keeps wanting to re-encode my file)

Select super video CD

If you have Nero Ultra with the mpeg plug-in you can select “enable menu” to build a menu.

Select “new”

Click on the “MPEG2” folder in top left window (to make sure you put your file in the correct folder)

Find you file in the explorer windows to the right and drag it in to the lower left widow

It will then tell you your file is not a valid svcd file BUT it will let you ignore this by clicking on “turn off standard compliance and continue”

Now you can burn it to a svcd without re-encoding

I don’t know how compatible the resulting svcd is I have only tested it on my home player, a Daewoo 9000N that will play many different mpg files off a data cd. So other players might be more picky I don’t know.

Good luck

OK, so does that mean that my 3GB MPEG will be converted into a 700MB SVCD for me in the proccess?

How do I do that conversion from 3GB MPEG to 700MB MPEG prior to creating the SVCD?

Thanks,
Dan

you are going to either have to setup snapstream to record directly to an svcd compatible resolution/bitrate/audio format or you are going to have to use a program like nero express or tmpgenc to re-encode the file to svcd specs.

svcd specs:
Video Res: 480x480
Video Bitrate: 1600Kbs - 2520Kbs
Audio: 44khz stereo @ 224kbs

3GB file. Buy a dvd burner

The reason I said “you can burn it to a svcd without re-encoding” in my previous post is because of the problem I and some others have had with the current version of SS capturing what should be a SVCD compliant file and Nero, Roxio not seeing it as SVCD compliant file and having to re-encode it before burning.

I just don’t like to wait

If you have a 3GB file and it is SVCD then just split it so it will fit on several CD’s.
