Recommendations on a HDTV tuner card Wanted

I am going to be building my own PVR system and while it is pretty straightforward to go with a PVR-250, nVidia 5200, and Snapstream, I wanted to take advantage of my TV's full capability.

I will sticking all of this in a Dell 400SC with 2.8ghz, 800FSB, 512mb RAM and 200GB/8mb Cache HD.

What success has eveyone had with HDTV tuner boards and which did you use? What combination of other boards are you using?

I'm using AccessDTV and I love it. I've got it set-up in a computer by itself. I've got a PVR-250 in two other computers that run 24/7. See here for some comparrison's of different HD cards.

Great link there. Does the MDP-120 or the AccessDTV currently work with snapstream?

No. I manually input what I want to record. Since there isn't a whole lot of HD programming available manually setting up recordings isn't a big deal.

Thanks for the info. I'm a Tivo user right now on my regular cable box and I just picked up a HD box from my cable co. I have both in the tack so i can still tivo the regular cable, but it looks like crap on my new 53" TV now that i'm spoiled by 480p DVDs and 1080i scaled HDTV. I'll take a look at those two cards and see if using them to record and tune my local HD channels is better than paying $7/mo to the cable company for them. Will suck to lose the discovery HD channel though.

The FusionHDTV II card from Dvico works with SS, kinda.

You have to use composit or Svideo input from your cable box or you will not get a picture. The other problem is that it only supports Software decoding and encoding. So if you crank up the settings your going to not like the results if you try to watch and record at the same time.

I don't always have this problems but now and then they like to show up durring my favorite shows. A shame too because using just the companies software with the card the picture looks just FANTASTIC.

You can find more info here on the card....
