Need help with toslink and audio cards

I am confused with the different sound cards available. I am using the on board sound chip from the Intel D865Perl motherboard. It has a toslink optical out but only a microphone, and line in input connection.

I originally purchased a SoundBlaster Audigy2 sound card, however it only has the S/Pdif audio in and out.

What I would like to be able to do is take the optical out from a video card and input that connection into the optical input (toslink)of a soundcard, bypassing the Motherboard sound chip.

My goal is to take the PVR card's audio output (which I hope is 5.1) and input it into the Sound card via toslink connection.

I have looked at the Delta sound cards and the Platinum Series of Soundblasters but don't understand the best way to proceed.

My HTPC is connected to my home wired/wireless network and a Denon 3802 optical Toslink In and S-Video connection.

Here is my rig so far, a work in progress:

o Digital Connection Black Desktop ATX (CI6004B)
o MB P4 INTEL 865PERL
o SoundMax sound chip and codec on the 865PERL
o Intel P4 2.4C 800 FSB
o ZALMAN CNPS7000A CPU cooler (Still too noisy and hot)
o Kingston KVR400X64C3A 512MB DDR400 PC3200
o DVD+RW PLEXTOR PX-504A
o ATI RADEON ALL IN WONDER DVI AGP 7500
o Vidam SK-7100 Wireless Keyboard
o Linksys 56GHz Wireless-G Net Card
o On order: Zalman’s 400 watt quiet power supply
o On order: Zalman’s 80 mm quiet case fan (still running a bit hot)

Thanks

I know the SoundBlaster Live! and Audigy cards have a Digital I/O card that will input/output Toslink. I used to use the Digital I/O card with my SoundBlaster Live! to do this.

It is $59.99, so the solution suggested above will be cheaper.
